Our VCE Chemistry program follows the Victorian study design across Units 1–4, helping students build strong foundations in VCE Chemistry concepts and scientific investigation skills.
Students explore how chemical structures explain the properties and reactions of materials, how materials are quantified and classified, and how chemical principles can support a more sustainable future.
Students study how chemicals interact with water, how chemicals are measured and analysed, and how quantitative scientific investigations develop understanding of chemical reactions.
Students investigate energy production, fuels, electrochemical cells, reaction rates, equilibrium and the ways chemical processes can be designed for efficiency and sustainability.
Students focus on organic chemistry, synthesis, analysis of organic compounds, instrumental techniques and scientific inquiry into the sustainable production of energy and materials.
Our VCE Chemistry program is designed around clear teaching, regular practice, SAC preparation, feedback and exam-focused revision, giving students the structure they need to improve steadily.
Students learn from Dr Oshadie Kumanayaka, whose strong academic background in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering helps students understand complex ideas with clarity and confidence.
Students practise SAC-style and exam-style questions throughout the year, helping them improve their wording, working-out, accuracy and ability to earn marks under timed conditions.
Students receive support with chemical equations, mole calculations, stoichiometry, concentration, energy, rates, equilibrium and other calculation-heavy areas.

Dr Oshadie Kumanayaka is the VCE Chemistry specialist at Casey Tutors. With advanced qualifications in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, she brings strong subject knowledge, clear teaching and structured guidance to students preparing for VCE Chemistry.
Her teaching focuses on helping students understand the “why” behind chemical concepts, not just memorise formulas. From bonding, stoichiometry and water chemistry to fuels, electrochemistry, equilibrium and organic analysis, students are guided step by step through the content and the skills needed for SACs and exams.
VCE Chemistry can feel challenging because it combines theory, calculations, practical investigations and data interpretation. Dr Oshadie’s program is designed to make these areas clearer through worked examples, regular practice and careful explanation of common mistakes.
Students are supported to build confidence in chemical equations, calculations, experimental design, graph interpretation and exam-style responses. The aim is to help students become more accurate, more organised and more confident when applying Chemistry knowledge to unfamiliar questions.
